The MAS has joined Museums for All

MAS is now a “Museums for All” partner

Beginning March 2024, the Museum of Arts and Sciences joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits. The program supports those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits visiting the MAS for a minimal fee of $1/youth and $3/adult, up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 850 museums across the country.

“We believe wholeheartedly in the transformational experience of visiting the MAS,” said Executive Director Susan Welsh. “Joining Museums for All is a powerful way to help families engage in lifelong learning outside of school hours -not only during the academic year but especially during summer months. Thanks to financial support from Cox Communications, we’re able to offer this national discounted admission program.”

“It’s important to us at Cox to support youth and education in the communities we serve,” said Caryn Frey, market vice president for Cox Middle Georgia. “We’re excited to partner with the Museum of Arts and Sciences, IMLS, and ACM to expand access to these valuable academic resources.”

Museums for All is part of the MAS’s broad commitment to seek, include, and welcome all audiences. Museums for All helps expand access to museums and also raise public awareness about how museums in the U.S. are reaching their entire communities. Participating institutions include art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums, and more – and are located nationwide.

In addition to the discounted admission available through Museums for All, MAS offers FREE admission through a statewide library program. The MAS partners with the Georgia Public Library Service to allow library users from across the state to visit for free by checking out the Macon Museum Pass with their library cards. The pass includes free general admission for a family of four at the MAS, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and Tubman Museum. Passes are available for checkout in every county in Georgia at the state’s 408 public libraries.”
