Highlighting contemporary art in Georgia through narrative works by several noteworthy visual artists including: Bo Bartlett, Holly Coulis, Shanequa Gay, Cheryl Goldsleger, Ridley Howard, Melissa Huang, Margaret Morrison, Fahamu Pecou, Dianna Settles, Cedric Smith, Tori Tinsley, and Orion Wertz. MAS was selected as one of the hosts for the PICTURE THIS traveling exhibition organized by the Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia, and Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens, GA. Featured artists display works that explore thematic narrative pictorial stories in painted works. From scenes of daily life, Settles’ depictions of friends at a spa, Bartlett’s beach side gathering to possible future scenes of our planet such as Wertz’s apocalyptic surrealism or Goldsleger’s birds eye views of our planet’s duress to the intimate and familiar interpreted domestic compositions as Coulis or Morrison or the identity saturated portraits from Pecou or Smith. This selection of artists and body of works reflect the here and now and those things close, people, place and object.
