Home School Field Trip Day: Forces of Nature

During this Field Trip families will explore different forces of nature such as water, wind, and plate tectonics and how those forces affect our planet and beyond.

Create your own experience from our program choices! Spots are first come, first serve. Check-in begins at 9:45 am in the Museum lobby. Once checked-in you will receive a bracelet indicating your admission to all programs for the day!

Field Trips are $9 /a child with 1 free adult per family. At least 1 parent or guardian must be present in all shows and programs. Additional parents/adults are $10 each.

Children 5 and up can participate. Home School Co-Ops of more than 10 are asked to book their own field trip separately.

Program Descriptions:

“Extreme Animals” – During this live animal experience you will learn about some animals that live in the temperature extremes such as deserts and cold mountain tops. 

Recommended for grades K-12th.

“Blast Off to Mars” – During this planetarium show you will visit Mars and explore how forces of nature, such as water, have shaped this red planet. 

Recommended for grades K-3rd.

“Dynamic Earth” –  During this planetarium show you will explore the inner workings of Earth’s climate system using satellite data and supercomputer simulations while examining how the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere shape our climate. 

Recommended for grades 4th-12th.

“Weather” –  During this Science on a Sphere program you will learn about the complexities of weather forecasting and what causes weather by looking at real-time data such as cloud cover. 

Recommended for grades 2nd-12th.

 “Plate Tectonics” –  During this Science on a Sphere program you will explore the theory of plate tectonics by examining moving plates on our surface that have changed the landscape for millions of years, causing volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

Recommended for grades 5th-12th.

 “Weather Fun” –  During this hands-on program, you will learn about some weather instruments and create your own wind vane to take home with you.

Recommended for grades K-3rd.
