Slow Art – Works from the Museum’s Permanent Collection

Through December 24, 2017

This “highlights” exhibit supports the Slow Art movement, a national initiative to encourage museum visitors to slow down and spend more time looking at works of art. According to one study published in the journal “Empirical Studies of the Arts,” museumgoers spend an average of just 17 seconds looking at an individual painting. The Slow Art movement encourages museums to display only a few works of art in a gallery space and challenge visitors to spend at least five minutes looking at each work of art displayed.
