2012 Festival of Trees On November 15, 2012, the anticipated party of the fall—the Festival of Trees Gala—welcomed the holiday season at the downtown historic Terminal Station. There, guests enjoyed a fabulous array of delectable treats, live music, and dancing into the night.

The Gala also officially opened the 26th Annual Festival of Trees exhibition, which displayed more than 35 designer-decorated holiday trees that adorned the galleries at the Museum of Arts and Sciences through December 30, 2012.

Here’s a sampling of the elaborately-decorated trees in this year’s exhibition:

The following was published on October 15, 2012 to announce the then-upcoming Festival of Trees activities.

“Downtown dancing into the night for the Museum!” Chairs Bowen Reichert and Natalia Dayton practically exclaimed in unison, when asked what party goers might expect. The duo, along with their committee of 50 young Museum members and supporters from downtown, midtown and North Macon, is excited to inform the entire Macon-Bibb community of their plans. Tickets are $60 on or before October 26th and $75 after that early bird deadline. Reserve your spot soon, and help ensure that the Museum continues to deliver the very best events and exhibitions.

Festival of Trees has developed into a diversely unique fundraising event that is as enjoyable for the producers as it is for the attendees. As a former employee of the Museum, I’m happy to see such an energetic group producing an event that benefits one of our community’s greatest educational resources,” added Sean Pritchard, Cherry Blossom Festival Event Coordinator and committee member.

As always, the Museum’s spectacular celebration of the holiday season will kick off with the popular and delectable Luncheon on Wednesday, November 14th at the Museum and the preview Gala and silent auction on Thursday, November 15th at the Terminal Station. Molly Muse, the Museum’s Development Director, stated, “Thanks to the support from generous corporate and individual sponsors and patrons of this annual favorite, designer trees will be on display in the Museum’s Celebrate! exhibition throughout the holiday season for the enjoyment of thousands of visitors.”

The purpose of the Museum of Arts and Sciences is to acquire, preserve, study, interpret, and exhibit objects of artistic, scientific, historical, or cultural value that have inherent significance to the people of Central Georgia, so as to promote a fuller understanding of humankind, its heritage and environment. The Festival of Trees is the Museum’s most important fundraising event, raising money to support year-round educational and operational goals.

Festival of Trees Co-Chairs Bowen Reichert and Natalia Dayton stopped by the 41WMGT-TV Daybreak studio recently to talk about the event.
